Sky Stack is an enigma. Creating a resource for entrepreneurial spirits, musicians, and positive minded individuals, Stack's brand is getting recognition for its authenticity and attention to small business application on global ideas. Sky Stack is this week's focus for Music Mondays
Who are you and what are you all about? What's your brand?
I’m Sky Stack—20 years old, founder of Pariah Reign, and living it up here in Boise, Idaho. I’m a young entrepreneur with two ventures, including the EDM-focused clothing line Pariah Reign and a design and marketing agency, Second Unit Digital.
Pariah Reign, my streetwear label, focuses intensely on the electronic music community. We give back to our tribe through giving artists the tools and mindsets to implement into their own career success.
Tell us about why you became a creative type and why you wanted to become a part of this growing industry.
Since I was young, I was always fascinated by creating things. I was always building Legos, designing worlds in the park behind my backyard, or creating digital goodness. I got into graphic design at the age of 8 from modding an old, classic PC-game Warcraft III. That same love for video games fueled me into Guitar Hero, which got me into playing music. Over my teenage years, I played in hardcore bands, produced electronic music, and then finally came full circle to design for electronic musicians and their fans.
What kind of growth have you seen in your brand thus far and where do you see your brand going?
We’ve seen an intense amount of community building around the Pariah Reign brand. Our Tribe, as we’ve named our extended family, is far-reaching across the United States, and some parts of the world. It’s always exciting when one of our Tribe members sees another wearing our gear, because both share in the values that Pariah Reign stands for. We just want to connect with people and create a culture of positivity and creativity, and we’re already well on our way to doing that.
For young people interested in following in your footsteps, making their dreams a reality, what advice do you have to give them?
Well, I give a lot of advice for free on the Pariah Reign blog. There’s plenty of tactical articles, book recommendations, app suggestions, and more nuggets of knowledge to level up your game whether you’re a musician, a promoter, or an entrepreneur.
I know not everyone will click the link to the blog, so I’ll offer some advice right here.
- Create discipline. Be patient with the results, and willing to do the unsexy work required to build something great. Stay up late. Get up early. Have the discipline to stay in the game.
- Always be humble & keep learning. “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.” Know that you do not know everything. Read as many books as possible. Listen to as many podcasts as possible. Find people who are better than you and learn from them.
- Run the marathon, not the sprint. Don’t sacrifice long-term goals for short-term gains. Hold out for good, prestigious opportunities instead of taking the low-hanging fruit in front of you. Don’t try and live the life without doing the work first. Protect relationships over profit.
