This afternoon we'd like to introduce you to talented record producer, innovative music supervisor, visionary taco-maker, and renowned NYC-based DJ Matt F.X. Feldman. It's hard to believe this fellow gets any sleep, considering his productive lifestyle as Music Supervisor of the popular Comedy Central series "Broad City" and musical collaborator on Lorne Michaels' newer show "Man Seeking Woman" on FXX. In combination with those positions, Matt has been developing an album under the name Scooter Island, a musical cooperative with contributions from over 20 artists, all in the name of rooftop music. We've attached Scooter Island's newly released music video for the track "Breezy" below, via a Buzzfeed premiere. Additionally, Matt consistently DJs clubs and roaming parties throughout the New York area, whether it's an independent gig as Matt F.X., under the Scooter Island name, or along with his seasoned NYC DJ collective, Tribes.
It's safe to say that Matt F.X. is the definition of today's avant-garde within the music industry - his substantial and forward-thinking taste in music has earned him the label of icon at the budding age of 23, not to mention excellent party-thrower and chef. We're looking forward to seeing what's next from him.
He's made us a playlist of tunes for today's RBM Music Monday. You might hear a couple of these this week at his upcoming gig at Verboten. He's also included a recent mix for Discobelle. Follow Scooter Island on Soundcloud here.
